Localizing Keyword Research by Market
Rebuild keyword research in the target market instead of translating home-market winners
Definition
Market-localized keyword research starts again from the language, demand and category used by buyers in the target country. It treats a translated home-market keyword as a hypothesis rather than proof that the same query or category exists abroad.

Do not translate successful Korean keywords and mass-produce English pages from them. The direct translation may have no US search volume or may belong to a different category, even though semantic search sometimes connects similar meanings. Run keyword research again in the target market, then rework existing content around what that research finds.
How to apply
- Fits a product with useful Korean content but no evidence that overseas buyers describe the problem in the same terms.
- Use related-question mapping to expand the locally validated seed query instead of translating the whole Korean content plan.
- Turn only a chosen local query into a page with a search-surface content brief.
- Revisit the domain strategy before scaling localized URLs if the current domain itself may reduce local trust.
- Carry the chosen market language into each localized title and description during the technical launch checklist.
Limits
- The source provides no keyword tool, minimum-volume threshold, country segmentation method or worked Korean-to-English example.
- It does not report rankings or conversions from a translated-keyword plan versus a market-researched plan.
- Search vocabulary and category boundaries vary within a country and change over time.
